Volando Edizioni story
we left Volando Amat with the promise to end our chat and find out how she created Volando Edizioni, which targets she had achieved and what still she aims. Here is the final part of our pleasant, and hopefully for you interesting, conversation.
In 2008, says Volando Amat, “I founded the Antica Stamperia Il Faro. I hadalready wanted to speak with Secondlife writers who did not mention RL, but I have not succeeded in so I had to accept the themes that the authors wanted to treat”. With the Antica Stamperia il Faro “staff was just me and my business partner Rockerduck Bodganovich, who was in chargeof printing the books, the graphic and the vendors. I decided to put a price, because it was a signal to authors that their books had been sold, although a percentage remained to us: not thick enough to cover the transition from notecards or e-mails to textures, photographs, and the cost of the paper for the machine, but symbolically it meant something”. Thenunfortunately Volando had to leave her Porto Cervo SL sim “which I had held for four years: I have suffered too much and everything has gone bad. Lost the sim and the partner, I had to give him the Antica Stamperia because of my absolute technical ignorance in this world of technology, in which I entered and I am only interested in humanity here and nothing else. It was all very painful and I retired in a homestead, to breed (virtual) horses for several months, trying to recover from a state of infinite desolation”.
Onlyat the end of summer 2011, “with the generous help of a sister who decided to learn how to print books in SL and today is my staff (which currently sees Volando Amat as editor, Lalei Bonetto as typesetter and Rocca Rossini asresponsible for the script and sale, LmS) I started the Editoria Volando, with the intention this time to stick to my original dream: a world of pixels, a life of the mind, in short, an avatar”. Duringall this time “someone, reading a few of my articles written somewhere, or some of my interventions in certain places of culture, offered help to me, which was always been impossible to implement because the mandatory rule not to have any relationship with RL, or other purpose than to treat and communicate with residents of the metaverse, disappointed their expectations, which are always directed to move from here in some way to real life”. Lately, however, things are changing “and even publicly denying to feel a little an avatar, the theme begins to be implemented. And with this latest publishing venture, my third, as the Edizioni Volando, success has been wonderful!”
