Videos
Politicians like Barack Obama or Antonio Di Pietro, singers like Irene Grandi or Paola e Chiara, corporations, art directors or enthusiasts: the use of virtual worlds like Second Life, IMVU, The Sims and the like as platforms to realize machinimas has spread around the globe. Not being able to keep track of all the new productions, at Mondivirtuali / SLnn.it we will try to offer a selection which we hope will enrich moreover thanks to your suggestions to: info (at) slnn.it. We are looking to hearing from you soon, but for now enjoy the show!
The end (maybe)?
Can you imagine if we tried to convey in the lives of everyday gestures and habits learned in virtual worlds? The result, as this video of Draftfcb agency (Paris office) shows, could be embarrassing.

Fashion Show
The magical world of fashion has long been a source of inspiration for digital video, here some examples that we think really well done.
Second Life Supermodels (by F3L1P40)
It was perhaps the most famous machinima made inspired by the world of fashion. Unfortunately, the author ("F3L1P40") of this "Frankstein video" had made it using clips from other machinimaa (one we'll show below) and images of Second Life avatars in part taken into the metaverse of Linden Lab and partly " hacked" on the web, so Youtube has removed the video (closing the account of its creator). But Mondivirtuali.it/Slnn.it have found it here. Enjoy.

Just for fun
Of course, in virtual worlds there you go mainly to relax, have fun and meet interesting people, all seasoned with chat, music, lights and colors. A mode of use, which despite the passing years never goes out of fashion, whatever they may say. If you do not believe here's some evidence.
Dubai
Itland (the original... and sorry for awful English text!)
Millenium Disco - Spot (mixed RL-SL)
Lost gardens of Apollo Tribute (by Samlowry Hawks)
and others will follow...
Educational
Virtual worlds can be a useful tool for educators in many different fields, from using the tools of these same platforms to give rein to their creativity sessions to psychology, from literary meetings to first aid knowledge. Not to mention the presence of numerous institutions and universities around the world.
Arte e Mente (on OSGrid)
Vulcano (Second Life)
English lesson for Italians (at Imparafacile - Second Life)
Music Videos
Often on famous pieces are made machimima that may appear sometimes funny but often are really well done, even in comparison with the originals, when they themselves are not the originals! The only limit, at times, is given by the protection of copywright on original songs, which led Sony to have removed from the main community online tribute to Michael Jackson, produced by Cecylia Live Events Production in Second Life to faithfully reproduce (even too much for Sony) the set and the music of the video for the hit "Remember the time" (when there is still only see a copy of the movie here). Turn on your speakers, sit back and enjoy the show!

Trailers/Teasers
Whether it's a video game, an event, a commercial movie, an educational documentary, trailers are a more typical use of machimima. Some are very small film, like the one developed by NASA for the construction of a future lunar base. Seeing is believing!
