Htc, Taipei consumer electronics producer, strongly believes in virtual reality’s success. That’s why Htc, already known for the Htc Vive VR viewer, announced at China International Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference 2016 to have selected the first 23 startups which will join the ViveX $100 million scheme annonced last April.
ViveX: 23 startups from 1,200 applications
This first 23 startups group has been selected from 1,200 applications which had responded to the invitation of Htc to apply for the first ViveX acceleration programme, half of which coming rom Chinese startups. They range from content creators to enabling technologies developers, from hardware to service.
Selected teams (plus 10 other startups selected in stealth mode) will develop their business ideas in four ViveX locations (in San Francisco, Beijing, Shenzen and Taipei) and will have four months to develope “marketable products/contents which will be presented to potential investors” upon their graduation.
Next program will start in November
Htc did not indicate whether and how many of the 100 million dollars invested in the accelerator program will be paid to the accelerated startups, but if someone wants to try, Htc is already accepting applications for the next ViveX program, which will start in November and should see other locations involved in Europa and in Asia.
